Time-budget
Idea Development
This is my mood-board. On the hoverboard, I wanted two different particle systems. A smoke effect under the board, and a red liquid effect in a small container (also, underneath the board.
For the dynamic mesh, I chose to make a tablecloth, which would act as a "presenter" of the hoverboard.
(Further description down below on picture.)
Work
I started off by making the container itself.
Then, by using "Fluids" in Maya, I made the red liquid.
This red liquid is supposed to be like fuel for the engine that makes the board hover.
Here you can see the different settings I used for it.

Then I proceeded with making the smoke, which I also used Fluids for.
You can see my settings here. (Note, I forgot to take screen-grabs of the attributes from the emitter)

Then I made the tablecloth.
I made a plane, extruded it, made it an n-cloth object, placed it over the table, hit play. As the tablecloth was in the state I wanted it to be, I set the initial state for that point. Oh yeah, and I made it a bit brown because grey would obviously be boring.
I continued by moving my objects to the correct place.
Then I changed some settings in the nucleus-node for the cloth.
I made the necessary objects able to collide and started "animating". I simply set key-frames and moved the hoverboard to where I wanted it to go, including tiny rotations as well.
After I was satisfied with the camerawork and the movements, I cached the fluids and the cloth.
I then created a play-blast of the ten second long animation.
Finished Product
This week was interesting. Working with particles and dynamics is a lot of fun, but can be difficult sometimes. I am happy with the result.
