Time-budget
Idea Development
I started off by drawing some concepts of what I could use on my character.
Work
The first task was to draw my character from front, back and one side view, but I decided to do both side views, considering I had planned out different stuff for each side.
The reason for drawing the character in these different views, is to use them as reference for when I am going to model the character.
On the first picture (under), I drew the general shape of the character in all of the views, with a thin outline.
I used a lot of lines to get everything correct.
From the first to the second image, I had changed the feet in the side view. I had drawn the head, which took a lot of time. Simply because I'm not really good at drawing. I had drawn in the magnetic weapon holster on the characters' back. And I had generally just given the character a thicker outline.
At this stage, I thought I was nearly done, but nope. The feet in the front and back view were looking horrible, so I spent some time drawing new feet.
I drew 18 different feet designs, I ended up choosing the fourth from the right (below)
Here you can see the the new feet with the character. (Below)
As I had gotten the side-views down, I started drawing the iconic pose.
The iconic pose didn't take too much time to draw, considering it's not really overly advanced.
I tried out different color styles to see what I thought looked the best. I ended up choosing the last one.
Finished Product
In two weeks, I am going to model this character in Maya. I might start with sculpting in Mudbox, then retopoing it in Maya afterwards. I'm not entirely sure yet.
