Noroff fagskole: CA1 - Character Animation 01

This week at noroff, I am animating two walk cycles for a character.
One generic walk, and one personal walk.

Time-budget

Reference & Idea development

For reference of the personal walk, I walked around differently, recorded myself and chose a walk that I found nice.

This is what I ended up choosing.

I then grabbed some screenshots of the key poses, and copied them over to Photoshop, where I drew some lines of action.

Work

With the reference picture on the other screen, I started to key in the movements in Maya using a pre-made model (Not made by me).

Here is a picture of my scene with three different shotcam angles. (The upper left is the perspective camera, which is the one I used while animating.)

Here is a picture of all the different keys for all of the different controllers, keyed.

This is just a video showing early work, not finished.

Finished Product

Generic walk

Personal walk

Animating is really difficult and time-consuming. I wasn't able to get the exact energy from the reference, but I feel i got the poses nice.
